Colt Graves To Feature in neon empire

Globally renowned rapper, singer, and record producer Timbaland is producing a television adaptation of the graphic novel “Neon Moon.” He’s also co-producing the original soundtrack, which features Owensboro artist Colt Graves throughout.

Jared Gutstadt plans to release the graphic novel this fall. It will feature QR codes inside for audiences to scan to play music that sets the tone for the next portion of the story.

The story centers around the fictional character Kountry Boi, a hip-hop star who goes from rap rags to “hick-hop” riches while coming to terms with a troubled past. The story centers around a criminal enterprise set in Nashville.

Graves is ecstatic to have a role in the project.

“Being selected to participate in this project is such a blessing,” Graves said. “The story of ‘Neon Empire’ resonates with me because of my own journey. I kind of feel like a character in the show already as my life has undergone so many changes recently.”

He added, “Timbaland has always been an innovator, and I have no doubt that he is going to bring new perspectives to the print industry with this graphic novel,” Graves said.

The graphic novel will launch this fall. Other country artists on the track include Bezz Believe and Clayton Johnson. Graves said he relishes the opportunity to have his music broadcast on television.

“I have always dreamt of having my music featured in TV shows and movies,” he said. “I often visualize a song in my head while I’m writing and put the music in a scene. I would like to think that my music is cinematic in its nature.”

Timbaland has produced music for worldwide superstars the likes of Justin Timberlake and Missy Elliott.

Graves announced last summer that he signed a record deal with Timbaland. The multi-platinum artist and producer first discovered Graves on TikTok, where he regularly reviews independent music for over 1 million followers. Graves caught Timbaland’s attention with his chart-topping single “Dirt on Me.”
